Located northwest of Rosebank and close to the Whian Whian State Forest, work began on the construction of Rocky Creek Dam in 1949, and the official opening of the water scheme took place in November 1953 in the midst of a drought. The picturesque dam attracts the concern of environmentalists who want to preserve endangered species in the area.
